Pope's Museum

Pope’s Museum is a must visit destination for history fanatics, supporters of veterans and women, and anyone interested in the arts! The home and art environment was created by Laura Pope Forester in the early 20th century, and it received visitors from 48 states during her lifetime. The site has been included in the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as the oldest extant outside art environment in the United States by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. To the side of Pope’s Museum sits a quaint cottage where visitors can enjoy a private, restful stay while also enjoying the artistic and cultural environment. The cottage has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, and it features a stocked kitchen and bathroom, a washer and dryer, and more amazing amenities. Located on 6 acres of land surrounded by forest, it is a perfect location for visitors to enjoy the natural scenery or even walk pets!

This 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom space within the 4,000 square foot home offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy their stay inside the very home where Laura Pope Forester lived and created her artwork. A country breakfast is typically served at 8:00 A.M. featuring local, farm-to-table ingredients. Alongside the museum and artworks, visitors are encouraged to view the garden, stroll around the farm area, meet the pet beagle, and more.
