Kea Kamiya is an artist living and working in Florida. Her work centers on her Japanese
Floridian heritage. She received a dual bachelor’s degree in Art and English from Florida Gulf
Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. During her senior year at Florida Gulf Coast University,
Kea was named an FGCU Hall of Fame Member for her work with the Asian American Student
Union, Sculpture Lab, Honors College and participation with the Critical Language Institute.
During this time, she was named a Portz Scholar by the National Collegiate Honors College for
her Creative Honors Thesis that was founded on research about her family and heritage. Kea is
currently pursing her Master of Fine Arts at Florida State University where she often shows with
the League of Graduate Artists. During her time in grad school she has shown with Wilson Arts,
Working Method Contemporary, and Studio Montclair.

I have taught private art lessons for children aged 11-14. I have also taught 3D Foundations and Welding for Artists at a postsecondary level.
