The Foundation for Contemporary Arts is offering Emergency Grants to visual and performing artists to address unexpected expenses related to projects and public presentations.
The deadline for this grant is ongoing. Applications must be submitted 8-10 weeks before their project's public presentation date.
The maximum award for this grant is $500-$3,000, with an average award of $2, 200.
Eligible applicants are artists who make experimental and contemporary work and must be individual artists or individuals representing an artist collective, ensemble, or group. Applicants must have committed performance or exhibition opportunities, and be able to provide specific dates at the time of application.
Applicants must live in the U.S. or U.S. territories and have a U.S. Tax ID number. Projects may take place in the U.S. or in eligible countries abroad.
Funding is intended for artists who have last-minute opportunities to present their work to the public when there is insufficient time to seek other sources of funding or who incur unexpected or unbudgeted expenses for projects close to completion with committed exhibition or performance dates, including international travel-related expenses.
Restrictions include: artists enrolled in any degree-seeking program or school (including high school, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs) are not eligible to apply; work-in-progress or informal showing of works, projects invited and presented by commercial galleries or art fairs, youth or educational programming, professional trainings, workshops, and other events, and production/publishing of various physical media are not eligible for funding.
