Camp Gordon Johnston Museum in Carrabelle, Florida, preserves the rich legacy of the World War II amphibious soldiers who trained along the Gulf Coast. Its mission is to honor and share the stories of the quarter-million men who passed through Camp Gordon Johnston between 1942 and 1946—soldiers who learned the demanding skills of beach landings and amphibious operations later used in the D-Day invasion and throughout the Pacific theater. The museum features over 3,000 square feet of exhibits displaying artifacts, photographs, uniforms, equipment, and personal memorabilia donated by veterans and their families. Visitors can also enjoy a small theater that shows historical films and interviews, providing a deeper look into the camp’s wartime history and the experiences of those who trained there.
In addition to the main exhibit hall, the museum includes a 1,500-square-foot Motor Pool building, which houses several restored military vehicles. The combined facilities—totaling roughly 4,000 square feet—serve as a venue for preserving and interpreting the stories of America’s amphibious soldiers. Educational programs, community events, and an annual veterans parade continue to honor the enduring spirit and sacrifice of the men and women connected to Camp Gordon Johnston.
